Thank you for joining us for another incredibly special Block Party full of fun, summer magic, and community. We welcomed more than 1,500 guests, 40+ community partners, and were assisted by 120+ volunteers.?We're so grateful we're able to create and execute an event that every single neighbor can come and enjoy, no matter who you are. For nearly 40 years, Connections for the Homeless has served and catalyzed our community to end homelessness, one person at a time. Each year we provide eviction prevention, shelter, and housing services to 4,000 people from across north suburban Cook County. Beyond providing direct services we also operate a robust advocacy and community organizing program to address the root causes of homelessness. The COVID pandemic accelerated our growth in the depth and breadth of services we offer and the organizational infrastructure to sustain this highly impactful organization. Connections is a radically reshaped organization deeply committed to demonstrating our core values in all relationships with participants, colleagues, donors, partners, and volunteers.

Congratulations BEDS Plus Inc., Connections for the Homeless, Cornerstone Community Outreach and Housing Forward on securing $40 million dollars to create new and preserve non congregate shelter beds in Cook County and the City of Chicago. IFF (CDFI) Real Estate Solutions team worked with each shelter operator on the applications for funding, aligning the capital stack with impactful scopes of work, and other real estate readiness and predevelopment activities. Thank you to Illinois Housing Development Authority for this massive investment in shelter and grateful to all at IHDA who worked tirelessly to fund these crucial capital projects. IHDA Awards $40M to Develop Four Non-Congregate Shelters Across Illinois To help fight housing instability, the Illinois Housing Development Authority has approved $40 million to fund four new non-congregate shelters, providing 194 private units and 422 beds for vulnerable households. These shelters offer independent accommodations and support services (no lease required) for individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, or recovering from trauma. ?? Family Fest is the first part of our annual Block Party! Join us in Twiggs Park from 12-4pm for a completely free, family-friendly afternoon. We'll have yoga, line dancing, a bubble show, pony rides, face painting, ice cream, arts and crafts, inflatables, and more! Then we'll move to After Dark, the evening portion of the event at @doubleclutchbrewery, to enjoy live music, good food, and craft brews until 11pm. Join us for our biggest party of the year!
