Doing good in the neighborhood! Cape Coral Caring Center and Goodwill SWLF teamed up to help put food on the table for families in need. Thank you Goodwill VIP donors and shoppers for donating non-perishable items for the last two weeks at all four Goodwill Cape locations. Together more than 300 lbs of food was collected !

Our Bonita Springs Community Resource Center "Back to School" event was held last week offering 23 struggling families help. A total of 54 kids received free school supplies to prepare them for the upcoming school year. I had a lump in my throat that would NOT go away on Friday. Has that ever happened to you? Like the kind that you get holding back tears. That kind of lump. How do you catch that from an early morning virtual board meeting with United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades Counties ? Like I mean….those sentences don’t even go together. A board meeting that made me feel things beyond policies and procedures and anniversary celebrations. The cause? Learning about the generosity of others, and you catch it from your co-board members witnessing why they give…and because some of them talked about how they have benefited from the help from their very own organization that they have governed for years. Talk about flipping the script! It was a board meeting not like other boards. It was a gathering of people making big decisions to do giant things for our community and the people - all people - in it.
